27 Priests Receive Reappointments

Twenty-seven priests have been reappointed to their current assignments, the Cardinal’s Office has announced.

Father John Borzuchowski has been appointed administrator of Immaculate Conception parish, Kingston, where he had served as pastor since 1991.

Father Harry Burke has been reappointed to the faculty of Cardinal Hayes High School, the Bronx. A senior priest since 2012, he has served on the faculty of Cardinal Hayes since 1973.

Father Edward Byrne has been reappointed administrator of St. Ann’s parish, Ossining. A senior priest, he served as pastor there, 1995-2013.

Father Charles Caccavale, a priest of the Diocese of Brooklyn, has been reappointed to teach moral theology on the faculty of St. Joseph’s Seminary, Dunwoodie.

Father William Cleary has been reappointed to the faculty of St. Joseph’s Seminary, Dunwoodie, to teach Sacred Scripture. He served on the faculty and as a formation adviser at the seminary, 2012-2015.

Msgr. Hugh Corrigan has been reappointed administrator of Immaculate Conception parish, Yonkers. A senior priest, he served as pastor of Immaculate Conception, 1987-2013.

Father Frank Damis, a senior priest, has been reappointed administrator of St. Joseph’s, Kingston, a position he has held since 2013. He served as pastor there, 1994-2013.

Father Joseph Deponai has been reappointed pastor of St. Anthony’s, Nanuet, a position he has held since 2009.

Father William Elder has been reappointed to the faculty to teach canon law at St. Joseph’s Seminary, Dunwoodie. He had served on the faculty and as formation advisor at the seminary since 2012.

Father Matthew Ernest has been reappointed to the faculty at St. Joseph’s Seminary, Dunwoodie, to teach liturgics. He has been on the faculty and served as a formation adviser at the seminary since 2012.

Msgr. Peter Finn, a senior priest, has been reappointed administrator of Blessed Sacrament parish, Staten Island, a position he has held since 2013. He was pastor of Blessed Sacrament, 2007-2013. He is also co-dean of Staten Island.

Father George Hommel, a senior priest, has been reappointed administrator of St. John’s, West Hurley/Woodstock. He had been pastor there, 1994-2014.

Father Elias Isla, a senior priest, has been reappointed administrator of St. Jude’s, Manhattan. He had served as pastor of St. Jude’s, 1989-2011, and previously was administrator for four years.

Father John Lynch, a senior priest, has been reappointed administrator of Immaculate Conception, Woodbourne. He was pastor there, 1996-2014.

Father John Monaghan, a senior priest, has been reappointed to the faculty of Cardinal Spellman High School in the Bronx, where he has served since 1964.

Father Dennis Nikolic has been reappointed pastor of St. Joseph’s, Middletown, a position he has held since 2009.

Msgr. Kevin O’Brien, a senior priest, has been reappointed administrator of St. Philip Neri in the Bronx. He was pastor there, 2008-2014.

Father Nikolin Pergjini has been reappointed pastor of St. Lucy’s, the Bronx, a position he has held since 2009.

Father Jose Piedrahita has been reappointed pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus in Manhattan, a position he has held since 2009.

Father Francis Principe, a senior priest, has been reappointed to the faculty of Cardinal Spellman High School, the Bronx, where he has served since 1981.

Father Enrique Salvo has been reappointed director of vocations for the archdiocese, a position he has held since 2012.

Father Francis Samoylo has been reappointed pastor of St. Columbanus, Cortlandt Manor, a position he has held since 2009.

Msgr. Kenneth Smith, a senior priest, has been reappointed administrator of St. Catherine of Genoa, Manhattan, a position he has held since 2011. He was pastor there, 2006-2011.

Father Jacob Thumma has been reappointed pastor of St. Sylvester’s on Staten Island, a position he has held since 2009.

Father John Tran has been reappointed pastor of St. Peter’s, Monticello, a position he has held since 2009.

Father Alan Travers has been reappointed pastor of Holy Child, Staten Island, a position he has held since 2009.

Father Nicholas Zientarski, a priest of the Diocese of Rockville Centre, has been reappointed as a faculty member to teach dogmatic and sacramental theology at St. Joseph’s Seminary, Dunwoodie.
