The Archdiocese of New York has been awarded 80 additional free Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) seats at Regina Coeli and St. Peter Schools in Hyde Park.

Parents should register at their Catholic school first, and then submit the necessary application documents to the Hyde Park Central School District. As part of the application process, parents will also be asked to fill out a family income form to evaluate their need for free or reduced-cost lunch.

Registration will be ongoing. Seats are limited and all applications will be evaluated on a first-come, first-served basis. To fill out an application, visit: http://www.hpcsd.org/news.cfm?story=933&school=0.

UPK is high quality Pre-K education for 4-year-olds, available at no cost, regardless of household income. Offered in partnership with New York State and the Hyde Park Central School District, UPK is designed to help more children begin their education at an early age and get a solid start on the road to active learning. All UPK programs adhere to the same high standards and curriculum, with a maximum of 18-20 children in each class.

“Pre-Kindergarten is a critical time when your curious child can become an active, interested student who looks forward to going to school. The love of learning that begins in Pre-K will help your child begin on the road that leads to success in high school and beyond,” said Dr. Timothy J. McNiff, superintendent of schools for the archdiocese.
