SS. Peter and Paul School in the Bronx will make the transition from a parish school to a regional school in the Northwest/South Bronx region for the next school year.

Sister Michelle McKeon, S.C., who served at the school for 48 years, will resign, effective Aug. 31. Jackie Lopez Alvarez, who is serving as assistant principal, will become the principal.

Ms. Alvarez formerly served as dean of student life and a social studies teacher at St. Elizabeth’s School in Manhattan.

There are nine geographic regions in the archdiocese. The Northwest/South Bronx region will have 15 schools after SS. Peter and Paul joins.

The school’s current enrollment is 161 students from prekindergarten to eighth grade.
