Call for Submissions From Young Catholics

Posted

Students and Catholic youths are invited to submit short videos to the 2014 “Try Prayer! It Works!” contest sponsored by Family Rosary, and to Catholic Extension’s “Extension Day” contest.

Family Rosary’s contest is open to students in kindergarten through grade 12. The contest is for those in a Catholic school, religious education program, parish or other organization. Students are encouraged to express their faith through art, poetry and prose by Feb. 1. This year’s theme is “Lord, I believe. Help my unbelief.” It focuses on the Presentation in the Temple. Information and to download an application: www.FamilyRosary.org/TryPrayer or (800) 299-7729.

Catholic Extension, in response to Pope Francis’ call at World Youth Day 2013, invites youths to “make some noise” with a day of prayer, service or philanthropy, and to document their efforts with a short video. Top “Extension Day” videos will be determined by judges, including actor Chris O’Donnell, a devout Catholic; Father Dave Dwyer, C.S.P., director of Busted Halo; and Father Mark Mary, co-host of EWTN-TV’s popular “Life on the Rock” program. Videos should be no more than two minutes long, and are due by Feb. 3. Information: www.ExtensionDay.org.
