Catholic High School Admissions Test Set for Nov. 7

Posted

The Test for Admission to Catholic High School (TACHS) will be administered in the archdiocese Friday, Nov. 7.

Eighth-grade students in public or Catholic elementary schools in the archdiocese interested in attending Catholic high schools in fall 2015 may register for the TACHS, which will be offered at 33 high school testing sites in Manhattan, the Bronx, Staten Island, Westchester and Dutchess counties.

The TACHS is designed to measure academic achievement in reading, language arts and mathematics, along with general reasoning skills.

The examination fee is $52, which includes registration materials (a student handbook with sample questions and other test information), test materials and the reporting of test scores to three high schools of the student’s choosing. Home reports of TACHS results are also provided. High schools directly inform TACHS-takers of the school’s admissions decisions.

Students may register online at www.tachsinfo.com or by telephone Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7p.m., and on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2p.m., at (866) 61TACHS (866) 618-2247.

The deadline for online and telephone registration is Monday, Oct. 20. The deadline for paper registration by standard mail is Wednesday, Oct. 8. Registration forms and informational brochures are available at Catholic elementary and high schools and parish religious education offices.

Additional information about TACHS, including eligibility for extended time, may be found at www.tachsinfo.com.
