Celebrity Mistakes

Posted

To the Editor:

Recently, there has been a lot of finger-pointing over the use of offensive language by famous people. They have apologized. Let’s move on. We are turning into a society of “1984 wordspeak” in which the media is very quick to attack a celebrity mistake. Will we revise the dictionary too and take out politically incorrect words?  Who decides what is OK and what is not OK?

Racism and intolerance are always wrong. What about pornographic images? Who decides about that? What about dirty language on television and in the movies? What about blood and guts brutality everywhere?  Hmm.

I suggest that we all be nicer. For example, “TMZ” should stop running mean-spirited stuff. I know...it’s a celebrity gossip show, but gossip, even if it’s true, is wrong and against the good book.
