‘Heartfelt Congratulations to a Brother Bishop’

Cardinal Edward Egan, Archbishop Emeritus, released the following statement on Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio’s 10th anniversary as Bishop of Brooklyn, which took place earlier this month.

With the greatest of pleasure I extend to His Excellency, the Most Reverend Nicholas DiMarzio, my warmest best wishes on the occasion of his 10th anniversary as Bishop of the Diocese of Brooklyn.

Bishop DiMarzio has done immense good here in New York over the past decade, and I know that he will do even more over the years that lie ahead. It has been a joy working with him during my tenure both as Archbishop and Archbishop Emeritus.

The Archdiocese of New York and the Diocese of Brooklyn are united in our service to the citizens of our beloved City, both Catholic and non-Catholic, as never before, and this is a singular blessing for us all—clergy, religious and laity alike. For all of this I thank the Lord each and every day, as I thank Him too for the pleasure of extending heartfelt congratulations to a brother bishop whom I highly esteem and deeply admire.
