Heavenly Assistance

To the Editor:

On my 88th birthday, the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, Msgr. Robert M. Trainor, who has no car, came to St. Patrick’s Home to visit me in spite of treacherous and dangerous weather conditions.

Msgr. Trainor is retired and at the age of 82 has been a priest for 57 years. Many regard him as a very saintly priest. He is stationed at the Sacred Heart parish in Highbridge and very often does excellent work for the archdiocese helping out as needed. At the conclusion of a most enjoyable visit, I prayed very hard that monsignor’s guardian angel would help him get home safely.

As Msgr. Trainor later related to me, his bus came along immediately but directly in front of him was a huge mountain of snow, which was impossible for him to climb over. At that moment two women on each side of him lifted him up by his arms and over the snow. When he got on the bus he quickly turned around to thank his “lifesavers” but there was no one there. Trust me, it was two angels who answered the prayers of a frightened “young lady.”
