Iona College Senior Picked For Prestigious Tourney

Iona senior forward David Laury has been invited to the 63rd annual Portsmouth Invitational Tournament (PIT) at the Churchland High School Sports Complex in Portsmouth, Va., April 8-11.

The prestigious tournament brings together 64 of the top senior college basketball players from around the country for the four-day, 12-game competition played in front of representatives from all 30 NBA teams.

Laury joins former teammates Sean Armand (2014), Lamont Jones (2013) and Mike Glover (2012) as participants. The Gaels are among only six college programs to send at least four participants to the tournament since 2012. St. John’s senior guard D’Angelo Harrison and Quinnipiac forward Ousmane Drame were also selected.

In its history the PIT has showcased many players who would go on to establish themselves as among the biggest names in NBA history including: Rick Barry, Earl “The Pearl” Monroe, Dave Cowens, John Stockton and Scotty Pippen.
