John F. Kennedy Catholic High School of Somers defeated St. Edmond’s Prep of Brooklyn to defend its CHSAA Intersectional volleyball title Nov. 14. The Lady Gaels defeated St. Edmund’s in four sets, 25-22, 24-26, 25-19 and 25-19.

The championship match was at Cardinal Spellman High School in the Bronx.

Danni Kralik led the Lady Gaels with 16 kills. Kennedy finished its season with a 15-3 record. The team did it with a refurbished starting lineup after losing last year’s starters to graduation.

“We had a really solid year, and my seniors wanted to go out as winners,” said Lady Gaels coach Tony Santora. “In my book, they did just that. It was a complete team victory, and I am proud of the way everyone played.”
