‘Larger Than Life’

To the Editor:

May 3, 2015 is the anniversary of John Cardinal O’Connor’s death 15 years ago. Cardinal O’Connor is still larger than life and is missed more today than ever before. His door was always open, all were welcome, and no one was ever turned away.

Love is full of hope and care. Love is a complex journey. The cardinal lived it well and was always thinking of others, no matter how small or big their problems. Each one was treated as if they were the only person in the world. No matter how much he suffered, there was always a friendly smile, a gentle touch and help to anyone who needed it.

Cardinal O’Connor lived a simple life as well as a holy one and will always be remembered as a man who loved God first, country second and family third. Rest in peace, dear friend and faithful servant. Let us never forget this just man and holy priest.
