Four Franciscan Sisters of the Renewal professed their final vows at a Mass celebrated by Cardinal Dolan at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Manhattan June 28.

The sisters are:

Sister Ann Kateri (Hamm) of Divine Love, C.F.R., was born in New York City and grew up the oldest of 12 siblings in the Washington, D.C., area. She holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Harvard University. After graduation she returned to Washington, D.C., where she was a high school campus minister and served ministries with the inner-city poor. She entered the Franciscan Sisters of the Renewal in 2005. She lives at Our Lady Queen of Angels Convent, East Harlem, where she serves as local vicar and director of Father Solanus Soup Kitchen.

Sister Faustina Joseph (Callaghan) of Jesus Through Mary, C.F.R., originally from London, England, holds a doctorate in biochemistry. She was involved in a serious car accident, which almost took her life and resulted in a profound conversion experience. After serving for several years with the international retreat ministry Youth 2000, she entered the religious community in 2006. She lives at San Damiano Convent, the Bronx, and is secretary to Sister Lucille Cutrone, C.F.R., the community servant.

Sister Veronica Catherine (Cowan) of the Pierced Heart of Jesus, C.F.R., practically grew up on the campus of Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio, where her father was active in music ministry as a leader of praise and worship and a songwriter. She graduated from the nursing program there and then was a missionary nurse in Jamaica, West Indies, and did nursing in Florida before entering the religious community in 2006. She has served at the sisters’ mission in England and is now serving at their mission in Ireland, St. Colette’s in Drogheda.

Sister Felicity Marie Joseph (Bouchard) of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, C.F.R., spent her childhood in Texas before moving to Maine with her family at age 14. She studied secondary education in college and met the Renewal Sisters while attending a Youth 2000-style retreat. She entered the community in 2006 and teaches in the sisters’ East Harlem youth ministry and on Youth 2000 retreats. She served on mission in England and is now local vicar at Our Lady of Guadalupe Convent, the Bronx, where she heads the Pater Noster food outreach.
