Sister Dympna Haber, R.S.H.M., a scientist and educator, died March 31 at Marymount Convent in Tarrytown. She was 72.

She began her teaching career at Marymount College in Quebec, Canada, 1967-1969. She then taught at Marymount Manhattan College, 1969-1971 and 1974-1981.

In 1993, after several years as a parish minister at St. Joseph parish in Bronxville, she joined the library technical staff at Marymount College, Tarrytown, continuing in that role as the college transitioned to become Marymount College of Fordham University. Since 2008 she had served as a member of the technical service and reference staff at Fordham University Westchester. She also designed several websites, including those for the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary of Eastern and Western American Provinces and Cormaria Retreat House, Sag Harbor.

Born in the Bronx, she entered the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary in 1964 and professed final vows in 1971. She held a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Marymount College, a master’s in chemical physics from Polytechnic Institute, a master’s in religion from Manhattanville College and a doctorate in biochemistry from City University of New York.

A brother, Lawrence, survives her.

A Funeral Mass was offered April 4 at Marymount Convent Tarrytown. Burial was at Mount Calvary Cemetery, White Plains.
