Seeking the Lost

Posted

To the Editor:

The recent Supreme Court decision legalizing same-sex marriage is the latest indication that the USA is entering a Dark Age, perhaps just preceding the return of Jesus. Leaving aside the fact that two men or two women “marrying” is nonsensical, morally we have entered a Sodom and Gomorrah situation.

This slide began in the 1960s. One of the slogans was, “If it feels good, do it.” Many youth then ate of that bitter fruit. Some did return to Christian values; I was one of them.

As the world becomes darker, we are seeing a moral climate similar to the Roman Empire days when the Gospel was first spread by St. Paul, St. Peter. The Christian faith was novel to the pagans who were hungry for truth. So it is today. There are many, especially the young, who see the Christian faith as novel and are open to it. We believers need to seek these people out. They are all around us; we move amongst them every day.

To contact them we need to have the compassion and love of Christ. We cannot do it without him. Jesus said, “Be wise as serpents and gentle as doves” (Matt. 10:16).
