Seventeen Priests Celebrate Silver Jubilees

Seventeen priests of the archdiocese are celebrating the 25th anniversary of their ordination to the priesthood. They are Msgr. Joseph Giandurco, Father Thomas Badgely, Father Christopher Berean, Father David DeSimone, Father Thomas Dicks, Father Joseph Dietz, Father Ricardo Fajardo, Father Rudolph Gonzalez, Father John Hunter, Father Daniel Kearney, Father Karl-Albert Lindblad, Father Kieran Mandato, Father Arthur Mastrolia, Father Michael Palazzo, Father Andrew Pane, Father Carlos Rodriguez and Father James Teague.

Cardinal O’Connor ordained 15 of the priests at Masses in St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the first five on June 27, 1987, and the 10 others on Nov. 14, 1987. Thirteen had studied for the priesthood at St. Joseph’s Seminary, Dunwoodie; Msgr. Giandurco and Father Mastrolia studied at North American College in Rome. Father Ricardo Fajardo was ordained in the Diocese of La Vega in his native Dominican Republic on June 13, 1987, and he was later incardinated into the archdiocese. Father John Hunter was ordained in Rome by Pope John Paul II on May 25, 1986.

Msgr. Joseph Giandurco has served as pastor of Sacred Heart parish, Suffern, since 2006. He also served as administrator there. He was dean of students, dean of admissions, procurator and professor of canon law at St. Joseph’s Seminary, Dunwoodie, from 1994 to 2006. He spent a year in Rome completing his studies for a doctorate in canon law. In 1989 he was appointed to the Vatican diplomatic corps and studied at the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy in Rome. He served at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Shrub Oak as administrator, parochial vicar and weekend associate, and as parochial vicar at St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Notre Dame parish, Manhattan. He was named a monsignor in 2006.

Father Thomas Badgley has served as parochial vicar at Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish, White Plains, since 2010 and was director of religious education there, 2007-2010. He was a parochial vicar at Holy Rosary, Hawthorne, 2002-2007; Immaculate Conception, Tuckahoe, 2000-2002; St. Mary, Star of the Sea, the Bronx, 1997-2000; St. Anthony’s, Nanuet, 1991-1997; and St. Patrick’s, Staten Island, 1987-1991. He was a member of the De La Salle Christian Brothers and taught for 13 years before entering the seminary.

Father Christopher Berean has served as pastor of St. Mary of the Snow parish, Saugerties, since 2006, and served as a parochial vicar there, 1995-2003. He served as pastor of St. Francis de Sales in Phoenicia, 2003-2006. He also served at St. Joseph’s, Kingston, 1995, and St. John the Evangelist, Woodstock, 1987-1995.

Father David DeSimone has served as parochial vicar of St. Vito’s parish, Mamaroneck, since last year. He was parochial vicar at Sacred Heart of Jesus, Manhattan, 2008-2011; St. Joseph’s, Middletown, 1992-1996; St. John’s, Kingsbridge, the Bronx, 1988-1992; and St. Jude’s, Manhattan, 1987-1988. He served as chaplain at Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie, 2005-2008. He served as pastor at St. Rita’s, Staten Island, 2004-2005; and at Most Sacred Heart, Port Jervis, 1998-2004, where he earlier was administrator for two years.

Father Thomas Dicks has been pastor of St. John the Evangelist parish, Goshen, since 2002. He was pastor of St. Dominic’s, the Bronx, 1995 to 2002. He earlier served at St. Dominic’s as temporary administrator and parochial vicar. He served as a parochial vicar at St. Francis of Assisi, Newburgh, 1987-1992.

Father Joseph Dietz has served as pastor of the Church of the Magdalene, Pocantico Hills, since 2000. He also serves as a hospital chaplain at Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla. He was a parochial vicar at Immaculate Heart of Mary, Scarsdale, 1994-2000, and served part time at Catholic Charities. He served as assistant director of Catholic Charities Department of Family and Children Services, 1991-1994. He served at St. Raymond’s in the Bronx, 1987-1991.

Father Ricardo Fajardo has served as pastor of Holy Spirit parish, the Bronx, since 2010. He served in Manhattan as a parochial vicar of St. Catherine of Genoa, 1999-2010, and at St. Jude’s, 1990-1999. He was ordained in 1987 for the Diocese of La Vega in the Dominican Republic and was incardinated into the archdiocese in 2010.

Father Rudolph Gonzalez has been pastor since 2000 at St. Joseph’s, Spring Valley, where he was administrator, 1997-2000. He served as a parochial vicar at Our Lady of Mercy, Port Chester, 1996-1997, and at St. Elizabeth’s, Manhattan, 1987-1996.

Father John Hunter, who retired in 2007, served as a parochial vicar at St. Mary’s in Poughkeepsie, 1994-1999, and later served as senior priest, 1999-2007. He was a parochial vicar at Our Lady Queen of Peace, Staten Island, 1992-1994, and Holy Spirit, Peekskill, 1986-1992.

Father Daniel Kearney has served as pastor of St. Elizabeth’s, Washington Heights, Manhattan, since 2007. He served as pastor of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs, Manhattan, 1993-2007, and was administrator there, 1992-1993. He was parochial vicar at Holy Family, the Bronx, 1987-1992.

Father Karl-Albert Lindblad has served for 20 years as a U.S. Navy chaplain and holds the rank of lieutenant commander. He served as a chaplain, 1991-1995 and since 1996. He was a parochial vicar at Immaculate Conception, Tuckahoe, 1995-1996, and Immaculate Conception, Stony Point, 1987-1991.

Father Kieran Mandato has served as a U.S. Navy chaplain since 1991. He served for four years as a parochial vicar at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish, Shrub Oak, 1987-1991.

Father Arthur Mastrolia has been pastor of St. Paul’s, Congers, since 2001. He served as headmaster of Cathedral Prep, 1997-2001, and served as spiritual director there, 1993-1997. He was a parochial vicar at St. Clare’s, Staten Island, 1988-1993, and Immaculate Heart of Mary, Scarsdale, 1987-1988.

Father Michael Palazzo has served since 2001 as pastor of Regina Coeli, Hyde Park, where he also was administrator, 2000-2001. He served as a parochial vicar at St. Columba’s, Hopewell Junction, 1996-2000. He was administrator of St. Aloysius, Livingston Manor, 1996. He served as a parochial vicar of Resurrection, Rye, 1995-1996; St. John the Evangelist, Mahopac, 1992-1995; and St. Augustine’s, New City, 1987-1992.

Father Andrew M. Pane retired in 1997. He served as procurator of St. Joseph’s Seminary in Dunwoodie, 1992-1997. He earlier served at St. Boniface in Monsey.

Father Carlos M. Rodriguez has served since 1999 as pastor of St. John Chrysostom in the Bronx, where he was administrator, 1997-1999. In 2002, he began to serve as a New York City Police Department chaplain. He served as a parochial vicar of Blessed Sacrament, the Bronx, 1988-1997, and St. Margaret Mary, the Bronx, 1987-1988. In 2005, he was appointed to the College of Consultors.

Father James B. Teague has served as parochial vicar of St. Gregory the Great, Harrison, since 2009. He served on the faculty of John F. Kennedy Catholic High School in Somers, 1998-2009. He was administrator of St. Peter’s parish, Poughkeepsie, for a year before that. He served as a parochial vicar of Holy Family, New Rochelle, 1989-1997, and St. Gregory Barbarigo, Garnerville, 1987-1989.
