St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations Around the Archdiocese

Plans are in place for St. Patrick’s Day celebrations across the archdiocese.

Cardinal Dolan will offer St. Patrick’s Day Mass at 8:30 a.m. Friday, March 17, at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Manhattan.

The 2017 New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade is dedicated to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York and the New York State Police, both of which are marking their centennial this year.

The 256th parade may be viewed along Fifth Avenue between 44th Street and 79th Street from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

Msgr. Kevin Sullivan, executive director of Catholic Charities, and Col. Patricia Groeber of the New York State Police will serve as aides-at-large to the parade grand marshal, Michael J. Dowling.

On Saturday, March 18, Cardinal Dolan will serve as grand marshal of the 62nd annual Yonkers St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Marchers will step off at 1 p.m. on McLean Avenue, west of Bronx River Road. The parade is dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the Sisters of Charity being established in New York.

Before the Yonkers parade, the cardinal will celebrate the parade Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Barnabas High School Chapel, 1025 McLean Ave.

The 41st annual Northern Westchester-Putnam St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Mahopac starts at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 12. Father Joseph Tierney, president of Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx, will serve as grand marshal.
