In addition to New York’s famed St. Patrick’s Day Parade along Fifth Avenue following Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral on March 17, plans are under way for St. Patrick’s Day celebrations outside Manhattan on and before that date. Among them are:
Sunday, March 6
Richmond County St. Patrick’s Day Mass and Parade, Staten Island
The parade kicks off at 12:30 p.m. on Hart Boulevard and Forest Avenue and follows from Forest Avenue to Jewett Avenue. The reviewing stands will be at Blessed Sacrament Church at Manor Road and Forest Avenue. Grand marshal is Brian Nutley.
Among the participants are an honor guard dedicated to the memory of Msgr. James Dorney, longtime pastor of St. Peter’s parish on Staten Island who was also a co-regional vicar and co-dean of Staten Island, and the Centenary of the Easter Rising for whom the parade is dedicated.
Auxiliary Bishop John O’Hara will serve as principal celebrant of the Richmond County St. Patrick’s Day Mass at 9:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church on Staten Island. Msgr. Peter Finn, dean of Staten Island and pastor of Blessed Sacrament parish, will concelebrate.
Saturday, March 12
White Plains St. Patrick’s Day Parade
The 19th annual parade begins at noon at the intersection of Mamaroneck Avenue and Old Mamaroneck Road and concludes at City Hall. Grand marshal is Lt. William Bertram, White Plains Police Department, retired.
Sunday, March 13
Mid-Hudson St. Patrick’s Day Parade
The 40th annual parade steps off at 2 p.m. in Goshen. The grand marshal is Sister Ann Daly, P.B.V.M., a former teacher and director of religious education at the school and parish of St. John the Evangelist in Goshen. She has also served as executive director of Hospice Planning and Educational Foundation Inc.
Cardinal Dolan is scheduled to serve as principal celebrant and homilist at Mass at 9 a.m. at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Middletown.
Northern Westchester and Putnam Counties St. Patrick’s Day Parade
The 40th annual parade on Route 6 in Mahopac steps off at 2 p.m. Grand marshals are Gail Driscoll Silke and Michelle Driscoll Tierney. This year’s parade is dedicated to U.S. Army Staff Sgt. James McNaughton (Gold Star Families) and U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Eddie Ryan (Wounded Warriors).
The Pledge of Allegiance will be recited at 12:45 p.m. at the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department 9/11 Memorial, corner of U.S. Route 6 and Croton Falls Road.
St. Patrick’s Day Party at St. Joseph’s Church Hall, Wurtsboro
The celebration, which includes music, singing and dancing, will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. at the parish on Sullivan Street. Doors open after 11 a.m. Mass. Food, including platters of sandwich fixings and salads, Irish soda bread and desserts, and coffee, tea and sodas, will be served beginning at 1 p.m. Sponsored by the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division 6.

Yonkers St. Patrick’s Day Parade
The parade steps off at 1 p.m. on McLean Avenue. Grand marshal is Patrick Quinn.
