Stepinac Does ‘Souper’

Students at Stepinac High School in White Plains collected 25,000 cans of food and other items for the homeless and needy by Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 1, earning themselves a day off from school the next day.

The “Souper Bowl,” Stepinac’s largest annual drive, “addresses a tremendous need for food by food pantries and soup kitchens in our community, a problem that is especially acute after the holidays when the level of donations declines,” said Father Thomas Collins, school president.

The items were donated to local food pantries, soup kitchens and parish churches in the area, including Our Lady of the Assumption Church and Our Lady of Grace Church, both in the Bronx.
