Third-grader Justin Blanco works with his dad Javier to plant flowers along 110th Street in front of St. Ann’s School in East Harlem in honor of Pope Francis’ upcoming visit to New York. The third- and fourth-grade project took place Sept. 1, which the Pope recently designated as the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation. Six students from St. Ann’s have been selected to meet the pope at nearby Our Lady Queen of Angels School on Sept. 25.
