Cardinal Dolan visited Downstate Correctional Facility in Fishkill to celebrate Mass on Ash Wednesday, March 1. The cardinal also met with corrections officers and visiting family members at the maximum security state prison. Concelebrating the morning liturgy were Auxiliary Bishop Dominick Lagonegro; Father Arecio Dormido, chaplain at Downstate; and Father Joseph Blenkle, pastor of St. Mary, Mother of the Church parish, Fishkill. Assisting were Deacon Robert Buckner, chaplain of Green Haven Correctional Facility, Stormville, and Deacon Frank Gohl, chaplain of Fishkill Correctional Facility. Also present was Acting Commissioner Anthony Annucci of the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.
