Brother Martin Damian McCullagh, C.F.C.

Brother Martin Damian McCullagh, C.F.C., who served at Blessed Sacrament High School in New Rochelle for eight years, died Nov. 25. He was 94.

Brother McCullagh was at Blessed Sacrament, 1974-1980 and 1966-1968. His service as an educator also brought him to Msgr. Farrell High School, Staten Island, 1981-1986; Cardinal Hayes/St. Helena Annex, the Bronx, 1968-1974; Rice High School, Harlem, 1954; and Sacred Heart Grammar School, Manhattan, 1950-1952. He worked in the admissions office at Iona College, New Rochelle, 1985-1993.

Brother McCullagh also served in Rochester; Chicago; New Jersey; Florida; New Foundland, Canada; and Rome, Italy.

Born in New York City, he entered the Congregation of Christian Brothers in 1940 and professed final vows in 1950.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Iona, and a master’s degree in English from DePaul University, Chicago.

His brothers, James and Joseph, survive him.

A Funeral Mass was offered Dec. 1 at Holy Family Church, New Rochelle. Burial was in Christian Brothers Cemetery, West Park.
