Brother Timothy Murphy, F.S.C., who served at Lincoln Hall in Lincolndale for 17 years, died Dec. 5 at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx. He was 78.
Brother Murphy was at Lincoln Hall, 1964-1981. He also served at Manhattan College, the Bronx, 2004-2010; St. Raymond Family Outreach Center, the Bronx, 1993-2004; La Salle Academy, Manhattan, where he held several positions, 1981-1987; and Sacred Heart School, Yonkers, 1983. He also served in Albany and New Mexico.
Born in Brooklyn, he entered the De La Salle Christian Brothers in 1959 and professed final vows in 1966.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in Spanish literature from The Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C., and a master’s in counseling psychology from Manhattan College.
His brothers, Patrick and Dennis, and his sister, Maureen, survive him.
A Funeral Mass was offered Dec. 10 in the Chapel of De La Salle and His Brothers at Manhattan College. Burial was in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne.
