Cardinal Dolan celebrated Mass for inmates and staff at Woodbourne Correctional Facility in Sullivan County on March 21. The cardinal and his priest-secretary, Father James Ferreira, also visited the St. Mary’s on the Hill Chapel there with Father Matthias Ndulaka, chaplain at Woodbourne. “It went beautifully. The inmates were so happy to meet him. Some of them called their families to tell them,” Father Ndulaka said. Woodbourne is a medium-security state prison for males; of the 778 inmates, 217 are Catholic.
