Carl F. Monturo, father of Father Christopher Monturo, pastor of St. Anthony of Padua parish, West Harrison, died Dec. 30 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C. He was 78.

Born in New York City, he was a graduate of Iona College. He worked for New York Telephone Company, retiring from the company in 1991 after 25 years of service. He was also involved in Junior Achievement and with the Telephone Pioneers of America.

He was a Fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus serving as grand knight and faithful navigator.

He survived by his wife of 45 years, Kathleen, and three other children, Mark, Celeste and Matthew, and two grandchildren, Christopher and Reagan.

The Monturos have most recently resided in Raleigh, N.C., and Boynton Beach, Fla., after spending nearly a quarter of a century in Lilburn, Ga.

A Funeral Mass was offered Jan. 6 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, West Harrison. Burial was in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne.
