A Mass honoring Divino Nino (Divine Child Jesus) at St. Margaret Mary Church in the Bronx drew 400 people.
Each child wore an image of Divino Nino over his or her shirt and was given a carnation, which was blessed and taken home.
Children and young adults visit the church each Wednesday for prayers and blessings from Jesus under the title of Divino Nino.
The Mass honoring Divino Nino was held July 18 to recognize Divino Nino’s feast day July 20. Divino Nino dates back to the 20th century in Colombia and is one of the most popular religious images in that country.
