Dominican Sisters of Hope Elect Leadership Team

The Dominican Sisters of Hope recently elected a new leadership team that will begin five-year terms June 22.

Sister Catherine McDonnell, O.P., was elected prioress, and Sister Patricia Magee, O.P.; Sister ConstanceLynn Kelly, O.P.; Sister Margaret Anderson, O.P.; and Sister Elizabeth Menard, O.P., were elected councilors.

Sister Catherine is the vice chancellor for urban ministry and planning for the Diocese of Paterson, N.J. After serving as a teacher and school administrator in New Jersey, Connecticut and Puerto Rico, she served the Dominican Sisters of Hope as prioress, 2003-2009, and councilor, 1999-2003.

Sister Patricia is the special educator coordinator at Mid-Hudson Regional Early Education Center, Poughkeepsie, and served on the leadership team, 2006-2014. She also served in special education at St. Francis Hospital Special Needs Preschool, Hyde Park, 1992-2006; Maplebrook School, Amenia, 1990-1992; and Bishop Dunn Memorial School, Newburgh, 1985-1990.

Sister ConstanceLynn, first elected to the leadership team in 2014, was a teacher and campus minister at Mount St. Michael Academy, the Bronx, 2010-2014. She taught at San Miguel Academy, Newburgh, 2009-2010; Nativity Mission Center, Manhattan, 2005-2009; and St. Anthony School, Manhattan, 2004-2005.

Sister Margaret was elected to her second consecutive term. She has served on the board of the Newburgh Ministry since 1999, and was a member of the board of trustees at Mount St. Mary College, Newburgh, 2009-2018. She was director of guidance at Academy of Our Lady of Good Counsel, White Plains, 2005-2014, and was a social worker with the archdiocese’s Drug Abuse Prevention Program, Manhattan, 1991-1999. She served as principal of Ascension School, Manhattan, 1989-1990, and St. Barnabas, the Bronx, 1986-1989, and as a teacher at Guardian Angel School, Manhattan, 1972-1978; St. Patrick, Newburgh, 1970-1972; and Our Lady of Victory, Mount Vernon, 1966-1970.

Sister Elizabeth was on the congregation’s general council as prioress, 1986-1992, and councilor, 1978-1986. She has served in Tupper Lake, Plattsburgh, Connecticut and Massachusetts.
