Father Robert Haus, S.J., who taught for more than 50 years at Canisius College, Buffalo, died July 12 at Montefiore Hospital, the Bronx. He was 90.
He was a professor at Canisius College, 1959-2004, specializing in applied mathematics. He remained at the college where he served the Jesuit community in several capacities, including consultor. He also assisted at a parish in Depew, 2007-2013.
He took up residence at Murray-Weigel Hall, the Jesuit infirmary at Fordham University, earlier this year.
Born in the Bronx, he attended Regis High School, Manhattan. He entered the Society of Jesus at St. Andrew-on-Hudson, in 1942. He studied for the priesthood at Woodstock College, where he received a licentiate in sacred theology. He was ordained at Fordham University Chapel by Cardinal Francis Spellman in 1955.
He received a master’s degree in mathematics from the University of Notre Dame.
A Funeral Mass was offered July 16 at the chapel at Murray-Weigel Hall. He was buried at the Jesuit Cemetery, Auriesville.
