Father Tierney Named Temporary Administrator

Father Joseph P. Tierney has been appointed temporary administrator of St. Matthew and Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish, Hastings-on-Hudson, while remaining as president of Cardinal Hayes High School, the Bronx. The appointment, announced by the Cardinal’s Office, became effective Dec. 4.

Father Tierney has been president of Cardinal Hayes High since 2004. He was archdiocesan director of vocations, 2001-2004, with offices at St. Joseph’s Seminary, Dunwoodie, where he also served as dean of students, director of pastoral formation and procurator. He joined the faculty at Dunwoodie in 1996.

He taught at Archbishop Stepinac High School, White Plains, 1992-1996, and was a parochial vicar at St. John the Evangelist, Mahopac, 1986-1992.

Born on Staten Island, he studied for the priesthood at St. Joseph’s Seminary and was ordained in 1986.
