Five Priests Appointed to New Posts

Five priests were appointed to new positions, the Cardinal’s Office announced. All appointments were effective July 1, except where noted.

Father Nicholas Callaghan is now a judge on the Metropolitan Tribunal after studying in Rome. Ordained in 2004, he served as parochial vicar of St. Margaret of Cortona, the Bronx, 2010-2013, and St. Catharine’s, Blauvelt, 2004-2010.

Father Adolphus Muoghalu is chaplain for the Archdiocese for Military Services U.S.A., effective June 1, after serving as parochial vicar of St. James the Apostle, Carmel, 2016-2019, and St. Mary’s, Wappingers Falls, 2015-2016. He was ordained in 2015.

Father Francis Naccarato is on the faculty of St. Joseph by-the-Sea High School, Staten Island after serving as prison chaplain at Shawangunk Correctional Facility since 2011. He was chaplain of Arthur Kill Correctional Facility, Staten Island, 1994-2011. He was parochial vicar of St. Denis, Yonkers, 1990-1994; Assumption, Staten Island, 1985-1986; St. Peter, Staten Island, 1986-1989; and St. Rita, Staten Island, 1979-1982. He was temporary administrator of Assumption, Staten Island, 1985, and served on the faculty of John S. Burke Catholic High School, Goshen, 1989-1990, and Msgr. Farrell High School, Staten Island, 1982-1985. He was ordained in 1979.

Father Stephen Ries was appointed priest secretary to Cardinal Dolan, effective June 15. He was parochial vicar of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, Shrub Oak, 2018-2019, and St. Joseph, Bronxville, 2015-2018. He was ordained in 2015.

Father William Woodruff was named chaplain for ArchCare at Ferncliff Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, Rhinebeck, after serving at St. John the Evangelist, Saugerties, as pastor since 2012, and administrator, 2011-2012. He was parochial vicar of Assumption, Maybrook, 2005-2011; St. John the Evangelist, Mahopac, 1996-2005; St. Patrick’s, Newburgh, 1990-1996; and Holy Family, Staten Island, 1982-1990. He was ordained in 1982.
