Msgr. Peter Vaccari, rector of St. Joseph’s Seminary in Dunwoodie,  who has served as rector since 2012, assumed duties Jan. 1 as vice president of Catholic Near East Welfare Association/Pontifical Mission for Palestine (CNEWA) and upon the future retirement of Msgr. John Kozar, will serve as president of CNEWA. A priest of the Diocese of Brooklyn ordained in 1977, Msgr. Vaccari served as a parish priest, seminary professor, chaplain with the U.S. Air Force Reserve and rector of the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception in Huntington before becoming rector of St. Joseph’s Seminary. Father William Cleary, a priest of the archdiocese, dean of seminarians and chair of the department of Sacred Scripture at St. Joseph’s Seminary, is the interim rector.
