Franciscan Sisters Of Peace Elect Leadership Team

Sister Helen Wacker, F.S.P., and Sister Dorothy DeYoung, F.S.P., were re-elected to four-year terms as congregation minister and assistant congregation minister, respectively, at the Franciscan Sisters of Peace Ninth General Chapter Elections at Marian Woods in Hartsdale April 6.

Sister Jeanne Gilligan, F.S.P., Sister Regina Holtz, F.S.P., and Sister Maureen Colleary, F.S.P., were elected councilors and will begin their four-year terms July 1.

Sister Helen, elected to a second term, previously was the congregation’s treasurer for 32 years and served as a councilor on leadership teams for 16 years. She has served as a principal and teacher, child care worker and physical plant manager. She also was assistant to the academic dean of Ladycliff College in Highland Falls.

Sister Dorothy, elected to a second term, served in the archdiocese as a principal of two elementary schools, junior high math teacher and cancer care technician at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx. She previously served as the congregation’s major superior.

Sister Jeanne has served in administrative positions at the College of Mount St. Vincent, Riverdale; College of St. Elizabeth, Convent Station, N.J.; and St. Peter’s College, Jersey City, N.J. She previously was the congregation’s major superior.

Sister Regina most recently served at First Friends of New York and New Jersey, and previously served her congregation as major superior, assistant congregation minister and councilor.

Sister Maureen, who previously served as congregation councilor, has been a team member of Renew International since 1997.
