The Archdiocesan Union of the Holy Name Society of New York’s Richmond County Division is honoring Joe Delaney for his work with the Bread of Life Food Drive Sunday, Nov. 12.

The day begins with a 9 a.m. Mass at St. Joseph-St. Thomas/St. John Neumann Church on Staten Island, followed by breakfast at St. Joseph-St. Thomas School.

Delaney’s University of Notre Dame Alumni Club of Staten Island began the Bread of Life Food Drive in 1992. This year, 70,000 food items were collected on Staten Island.

A few years ago, the Bread of Life Food Drive became a national collection with the help of former Notre Dame football coach Lou Holtz, and now 191 cities are participating, collecting close to 300,000 food items annually.
