Lack of Comparison

Posted

The article about the Democratic candidate for vice president in the Aug. 4 issue should have been balanced with similar details about Donald Trump’s pro-life running mate. Although mention was made about Sen. Tim Kaine’s opposition to a bill that, if passed, would have prevented abortions after 20 weeks, nothing was said about his opposition to the Hyde Amendment’s ban on taxpayer-funding of abortion or his co-sponsorship of the Women’s Health Protection Act—reportedly known as the Abortions Without Limits Act.

Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, the Republican candidate for vice president, has called Roe v. Wade the “worst Supreme Court decision since Dred Scott,” and, in Congress, he led the fight to defund Planned Parenthood. A comparision of the two candidates’ positions on life issues should have been provided.
