Lourdes' Jones Earns All-American Honors

Jaheim Jones finished in the top six in two events to earn All-American honors at the New Balance Nationals Outdoor track and field championships at Aggie Stadium in Greensboro, N.C., June 13-16.

Jones, who graduated this month from Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Poughkeepsie and representing the Our Lady of Lourdes Track Club, placed third in 20.82 seconds in the boys’ 200-meter dash. He was sixth in the 100 in 10.53.

In the preliminary heats, Jones was fourth overall in both events, posting 10.45 in the 100 and 21.06 in the 200.

His times of 10.45 in the 100 and 20.82 in the 200 are school records.

Jones’ performance comes a week after he won state public high school Division Two titles and federation state championships in both events. He also teamed with Aiden Reilly, Safo Kirton and Nick Timm to place second in Division Two of the public high school state meet’s 1,600 relay in 3:21.51.

Three relays with students from The Ursuline School in New Rochelle placed in the top nine at nationals with one receiving All-American honors. The girls four by mile relay of Daphne Banino, Haley McLean, Sarah Flynn and Lily Flynn, representing the Koala Track Club, was third in 20 minutes, 37.09 seconds to earn All-American accolades. The same four runners were eighth in the 3,200 relay in 9:15.43.

The Flynn sisters and Ms. McLean teamed with Casey Conroy to finish ninth in the distance medley relay in 12:09.97.

Fordham Prep’s Niall Ryan, representing the Fordham Prep Track Club, was seventh in the boys’ 2,000 steeplechase in 6:03.27.
