Manila Cardinal to Speak At St. John’s Commencement

Cardinal Luis Antonio G. Tagle, Archbishop of Manila, will speak at St. John’s University’s Queens campus undergraduate commencement exercises on Sunday, May 20, at 10 a.m.

Cardinal Tagle, who holds a doctor of sacred theology degree from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., was appointed Archbishop of Manila by Pope Benedict XVI in 2011 and named to the College of Cardinals a year later.

Cardinal Tagle has served since 2015 as president of Caritas Internationalis, the Church’s worldwide charitable organization.
