Mary Manning Walsh Walk To Honor Det. McDonald

The Mary Manning Walsh Home in Manhattan will hold its 30th annual walkathon Saturday, Sept. 16. The walk will be dedicated to the memory of NYPD Det. Steven McDonald, who participated for many years.

McDonald, who was shot in the line of duty and became paralyzed in 1986, died at age 59 in January.

The event, sponsored by the home’s Volunteer Association, will begin with a Mass at 8 a.m. in the chapel of the home at 1339 York Ave. After breakfast, participants will leave at 9:30 a.m. en route to Central Park. A post-walk party will be held for walkers and residents.

Cost: $15 for adults; $12 for children. Each walker will receive a T-shirt and a souvenir medal. Information: Sister Michael Mary, O. Carm., director of volunteers, (212) 628-2800.
