Archbishop Dolan will be the celebrant and homilist at the annual St. Patrick’s Day Mass in St. Patrick’s Cathedral on Thursday, March 17, at 8:30 a.m.

After the Mass, he will review the 250th St. Patrick’s Day Parade from the steps of the cathedral as it makes its way up Fifth Avenue led by Grand Marshal Mary Higgins Clark, the best-selling novelist.

Ms. Clark will also join parade officials, members of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, politicians and dignitaries at the Mass honoring St. Patrick, the patron saint of the archdiocese.

The parade, first held in New York in 1762, will begin its march up Fifth Avenue at 44th Street and proceed north to 79th Street, where it will conclude.

The Mount Kisco St. Patrick’s Day Parade, sponsored by the Ancient Order of Hibernians Frank Fox Division 16, will take place on Saturday, March 12, at 2 p.m. It will be preceded by a performance of Irish tales for children at the reviewing stand on South Moger Avenue at 1 p.m. The grand marshal is George Griffin, the president and co-owner of Richards Home Center & Lumber, who has supported the AOH and the St. Patrick’s Day Parade for many years.

The Northern Westchester-Putnam St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be held on Sunday, March 13, in Mahopac beginning at 2 p.m. at Route 6 and Croton Falls Road. Maurice Foley, a native of County Limerick who is business manager of the Cement and Concrete Workers Union, Local 18A, will be grand marshal.

In other St. Patrick’s Day events, a musical performance at St. Malachy’s Church/The Actors Chapel, 239 W. 49th St., Manhattan, will be held on Wednesday, March 16, at 7:30 p.m. The Tim Keyes Consort will present the oratorio “St. Patrick’s Breastplate,” which is an ancient Celtic prayer ascribed to St. Patrick, and “The Irish Blessing,” an arrangement for tenor soloist, chorus and orchestra of the well-known Irish prayer.
