Astor Services for Children & Families has appointed James McGuirk as president of The Children’s Foundation of Astor; the appointment became effective July 1.

McGuirk had served as CEO of Astor Services for Children & Families for 17 years, and “helped expand and improve it into the highly effective, widely respected agency that it is today,” said the organization’s announcement.

The position of foundation president is a newly created one. “With Jim’s dedication to Astor’s mission, his experience working with donors, and strong contacts in the mental health community, we believe this fundraising role is one for which he is especially well suited,” the Astor board of directors said.

Yvette Bairan was assigned interim CEO pending a permanent appointment after a professional search. She has served as Astor’s compliance officer for four years.

Astor Services for Children & Families, established in 1953 and located in the Bronx and Rhinebeck, promotes the wellbeing of children, adolescents and their families through programs that prevent and treat emotional problems and facilitate healthy development. Information: (845) 871-1117.
