Miracle of Diversity

To the Editor:

What a beautiful new beginning for St. Luke’s parish in the Bronx. (CNY, Aug. 6). The welcoming of the Ghanaian Catholic community to St. Luke’s is a prime example of what Father Joseph Fitzpatrick, S.J., referred to as one Church, many cultures, and what Pope Francis has called the “ever-outgoing Church,” a true missionary work within its own community connecting the church with her people and faithful followers.

Now it is not only possible to witness a change of climate and culture but also a more resolute, and essentially more radical, ecclesial vision of the Church in the post-conciliar period. A vision of the Church without obstacles or barriers into the heart of the lay community—a true touch of beauty.
