New leadership will be taking effect at Epiphany School in Manhattan, effective September 2016, the archdiocese has announced.

James L. Hayes will take over as school president, a newly created position that will focus on finances, strategic planning, fund-raising and community relations. He has served as Epiphany’s principal for 38 years.

Kate McHugh will become the school’s principal. She will be responsible for academic programs, teachers, students and parents. Ms. McHugh has served for 15 years on the faculty at Epiphany, including seven years as vice principal.

Mary Jane Higgins will continue as vice president at the lower school.

Speaking about the three leaders, Dr. Timothy McNiff, superintendent of schools, said, “With their guidance, Epiphany School will continue to thrive as it provides an unparalleled Catholic educational experience for all.”
