New Principals Take Oath on Retreat

The archdiocese held its annual principals’ retreat for incoming elementary school principals for the 2017-2018 academic year at Fordham College at Lincoln Center in Manhattan Aug. 2-4.

The new principals took the archdiocesan principal’s oath during a dinner Aug. 3 at II Gattopardo in Manhattan. They promised to uphold the tenets of the Church and the mission of the archdiocese as they go forward to spread Gospel values.

Dr. Timothy McNiff, superintendent of schools, was a speaker, and each principal discussed his or her intentions for their school that evening.

The 16 new principals are Joseph De Bona, St. Rose of Lima, Manhattan; Matthew Bull, Corpus Christi, Manhattan; Donna Gabella, Ascension, Manhattan; Stephanie Becker, Our Lady Queen of Angels, Manhattan; Molly Smith, Mount Carmel Holy Rosary, Manhattan; Dominic Fanelli, St. Mark the Evangelist, Manhattan; Kelly Burke, Sacred Heart of Jesus, Manhattan; James O’Connell, SS. Philip and James, the Bronx; Sister Patricia Brito, St. Frances de Chantal, the Bronx; Eugene Scanlon, St. Raymond, the Bronx; Ajeia Beebe, St. Philip Neri, the Bronx; Lawrence Hansen, St. Joseph Hill Academy, Staten Island; Casimiro Cibelli, Sacred Heart, Yonkers; Joan Fox, St. Eugene, Yonkers; Brian Donahue, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, Shrub Oak; and Carole Arbolino, St. Columbanus, Cortlandt Manor.
