The Notre Dame Academy girls of Staten Island captured a fourth consecutive title, and the Xavier High School boys of Manhattan claimed a second straight crown at the CHSAA intersectional state championships held at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx Nov. 11.
Notre Dame placed five runners in the top 10 to finish with 33 points, compared with 72 points by second-place Sacred Heart Academy of Hempstead. Sierra Dinneen clocked 15 minutes, 16.87 seconds on the 2.5-mile course to place second overall for Notre Dame.
Xavier had 35 points, led by Aidan Donahue’s second-place finish in 12:50.61.
Girls Volleyball
John F. Kennedy Catholic High School of Somers finished 1-5 in pool play before losing, 25-14, 25-17, to Kellenberg High School of Uniondale in the CHSAA state semifinals at St. Anthony’s in Huntington Station Nov. 11.
Kennedy Catholic completed the season with a 16-3 record.
Girls Soccer
Notre Dame surrendered six unanswered goals to close out the CHSAA state semifinal match with an 8-1 loss to eventual state champ St. Anthony’s.
Victoria Massullo scored Notre Dame’s goal off an assist from Olivia Saraceno.
The Gators finished the season at 17-4-4.
