On the Mark

To the Editor:

Your “New Blight in Times Square” editorial (CNY, Aug. 20) is indeed most welcome, and let’s hope it inspires other Christians to speak out on a public level against not only this blight of topless women accosting tourists for tips in Times Square, but against the “sexual lust” blight in general becoming more and more socially acceptable and pervasive.

Unfortunately, church leaders have said little against this growing plague and the entertainment industry largely responsible for creating a climate that would make Cole Porter’s 1930s “Anything Goes” seem more like the proverbial Sunday School picnic.
