What an enchanting article about Capuchin Franciscan Father Solanus Casey in Catholic New York (CNY, May 11).
In today’s world, I do not think Father Solanus would have prospered in an educational setting. Imagine a saint serving at the doorway of another establishment. What a waste it would have been for his gifts to be hidden.
Father Solanus was not only loved by the parishioners he served, but also by the Lord he encountered every day.
We can only hope in our lifetime to meet someone who projects Christ’s light and is able to transmit God’s love and patience to those in need.
May Father Solanus continue to share his wisdom and spirituality. May God bless him in his beatification to open the doorway to our hearts and lives.
