I agree with the letter written by Father Gregory Chisholm, S.J., regarding George Weigel’s Jan. 21 column in CNY. I certainly don’t believe that this is the first time that Mr. Weigel has displayed an arrogant attitude. CNY has chosen to run his column, which is clearly out of step with the very clear message that Pope Francis is continuing to preach regarding love and respect.
Mr. Weigel is entitled to his opinion but in my opinion his column should not be run under the heading “The Catholic Difference” as I definitely do not believe that he has cornered the market on Catholicism. He represents a viewpoint that fails to represent the true nature of our religion.
