Pastors Are Named to Parishes in Stony Point, Manhattan

Father Herbert DeGaris has been named pastor of Immaculate Conception parish, Stony Point, and Father Andrew O’Connor has been appointed pastor of St. Mary’s, Grand Street, Lower Manhattan, the Cardinal’s Office has announced.

Father DeGaris’ appointment will become effective July 1, and Father O’Connor’s was effective April 30.

Father John Fraser has been named temporary administrator of St. Malachy’s, Manhattan, effective July 1.

The following priests have been named as parochial vicars: Father Michael Achanyi, St. Augustine, New City; Father Ransford Clarke, St. Margaret, Pearl River; Father Brendan Gormley, St. Clare’s, Staten Island; Father Lorenzo Laboy, St. Raymond, the Bronx; Father Jesus Ledezma Castro, Our Lady of Mercy, the Bronx; Father Richard Marrano, St. Stephen, Warwick; Father Robert Rodriguez, St. Brendan-St. Ann, the Bronx; Father Adaly Rosado, St. Joseph, Spring Valley; and Father John Wilson, St. Patrick, Yorktown Heights.

Most of the appointments of parochial vicars are effective July 1, except for Father Gormley, May 26; Father Rosado, June 15; and Father Wilson, Aug. 1.

Father Thomas Lutz has been appointed to the faculty of Our Lady of Lourdes High School, Poughkeepsie, effective July 1.

Father Herbert DeGaris has served as administrator of Immaculate Conception parish, Stony Point, since last July and previously was parochial vicar there for a year. He was administrator of St. Patrick, Highland Mills, 2013-2015. He served as parochial vicar of St. Joseph, Bronxville, 2010-2013; St. Patrick, Yorktown Heights, 2004-2010; St. Catharine’s, Blauvelt, 2000-2004; St. Gregory Barbarigo, Garnerville, 1994-2000; and Our Lady Queen of Martyrs, 1991-1994. He was ordained in 1991.

Father Andrew O’Connor served since last August as administrator of St. Mary’s parish, Grand Street, in Manhattan, where he was parochial vicar, 1996-1998. He also served as parochial vicar of Holy Family, the Bronx, 2007-2016; Holy Trinity, Manhattan, 2001-2007; and St. Augustine’s, New City, 1998-2001. He was ordained in 1996.

Father John Fraser has served since 2005 as pastor of Holy Rosary parish in Hawthorne. He served as parochial vicar of St. Bernard, White Plains, 2005; St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Manhattan, 1999-2005, where he was also assistant master of ceremonies; and St. Anthony’s, Yonkers, 1996-1999. He was ordained in 1996.

Father Michael Achanyi has served as parochial vicar of St. Kateri Tekakwitha parish, Lagrangeville, since 2014, the year he was ordained.

Father Ransford Clarke has served as parochial vicar of St. Elizabeth’s parish in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan since 2015. He also served at Immaculate Conception-Assumption parish, Tuckahoe, 2012-2015, and St. Joseph of the Holy Family, Harlem, 2011-2012. He was ordained in 2011.

Father Brendan Gormley served as parochial vicar of St. Anthony’s parish, Yonkers, since 2015. He also served briefly as a temporary administrator of St. Anastasia, Harrimon. He served as pastor of Holy Family, Staten Island, 2015. He was parochial vicar of St. Barnabas, the Bronx, 2010-2015, and St. Paul’s, Congers, 2007-2010. He was ordained in 2007.

Father Lorenzo Laboy has served as parochial vicar of St. Stephen’s, Warwick, since 2015. He also served at St. Elizabeth’s in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan, 2013-2015. He was ordained in 2013.

Father Jesus Ledezma Castro did graduate studies in Rome after serving last summer at St. Rose of Lima in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan. He was ordained last year.

Father Richard Marrano has served at St. Rose of Lima parish in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan since 2013, the year he was ordained.

Father Robert Rodriguez has served at St. Joseph’s, Spring Valley, since 2013, the year he was ordained.

Father Adaly Rosado served at Incarnation parish in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan since 2014. He also served at St. John the Evangelist, Goshen, 2011-2014. He was ordained in 2011.

Father John Wilson did graduate studies in Rome after serving last summer at St. Gregory Barbarigo in Garnerville. He was ordained last year.

Father Thomas Lutz has served since 2011 as pastor of St. Augustine’s, Highland. He was pastor of Sacred Heart, Patterson, 2005-2011, where he also served for 18 months as administrator. He was parochial vicar at St. Augustine’s, Highland, 1996-2004; St. Francis of Assisi, Newburgh, 1995-1996; and St. Mary’s, Marlboro, 1993-1995. He was ordained in 1993.
