Pastors Named in Manhattan, Highland Mills

Pastors have been named for the parishes of St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr in Manhattan and St. Patrick’s in Highland Mills, the Cardinal’s Office has announced.

The new pastor of St. Patrick’s is Father Joseph Tyrrell, who had served there as temporary administrator since August 2016. Father Rafal Kandora, O.S.P.P.E., is the new pastor of St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr. Both appointments were effective Jan. 1.

Father Tyrrell was pastor of St. Peter’s on Barclay Street in lower Manhattan, 2012-2015. He was administrator of Our Lady of Lourdes, Manhattan, 2000-2003. He served as a parochial vicar in Manhattan at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, 2008-2012, where he also was master of ceremonies; Epiphany, Manhattan, 2003-2008; and Notre Dame, 1989-1993. He also was a parochial vicar of St. Philip Neri, 1998-2000, and St. Raymond, 1994-1998, both in the Bronx, and St. Mary’s, Katonah, 1993-1994. He was ordained in 1989.

Father Kandora returns to St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr, where he served as a parochial vicar, 2011-2013. He served most recently at parishes in Florida and Connecticut. He entered the Order of St. Paul the First Hermit in his native Poland in 2003, made first vows in 2009 and was ordained to the priesthood in 2010.
