Pastors of Parishes Receive Reappointments

Eight pastors of parishes in the archdiocese have received reappointments to a second six-year term, the Cardinal’s Office has announced.

They are among 21 priests who have been reappointed to their current parishes and other posts. All the appointments were effective July 1.

The pastors who have been appointed to a second term are Father Brian Brennan, Holy Name of Mary parish, Croton-on-Hudson; Msgr. Donald Dwyer, Resurrection, Rye; Father Osvaldo Franklin, Our Lady of Fatima, Yonkers; Father Michael Keane, St. Anastasia, Harriman; Father Philip Kelly, St. Francis de Sales, Manhattan; Father David Nolan, St. Joseph of the Holy Family, Harlem; Father Robert Norris, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Elmsford; and Father Richard Smith, St. Joachim-St. John the Evangelist, Beacon.

Two pastors were reappointed to their parishes until the year they turn 75. They are Father John Backes, St. Stanislaus Kostka, Pleasant Valley, and Father D. Francis Dias, Our Lady Help of Christians, Staten Island.

Ten pastors were extended for an additional year at their current parishes. They are Father Edmund Burke, St. Peter, Rosendale; Father Edward Byrne, St. Ann, Ossining; Msgr. Hugh Corrigan, Immaculate Conception, Yonkers; Msgr. Peter Finn, Blessed Sacrament, Staten Island; Msgr. Thomas Gilleece, St. John and St. Mary, Chappaqua; Father George Hommel, St. John, West Hurley-Woodstock; Father Thomas Kelly, St. Augustine, Larchmont; Father John J. Lynch, Immaculate Conception, Woodbourne; Msgr. J. Christopher Maloney, St. John the Baptist and Most Holy Trinity, Yonkers; and Father Daniel O’Hare, Holy Name of Mary-Assumption, Montgomery.

Also receiving an extension for one year is Father John Monaghan, a faculty member at Cardinal Spellman High School, the Bronx.
