Are we Catholic, or what? I’m not talking about the brand of Catholicism practiced by Rep. Nancy Pelosi, Gov. Andrew Cuomo and former Vice President Joseph Biden. I’m talking about the kind of Catholicism that finds abortion the greatest affront to our faith since I don’t know when.
And yet, I only occasionally hear the subject mentioned during Sunday’s homily. I believe Pope Francis would do well to instruct every parish priest in the world to enjoin their flocks that they mustn’t support, financially or morally, any political party or official that endorses or promotes that despicable “procedure.” And this admonition should be voiced at each and every Mass.
