Cardinal Dolan made a pitch today for parents and kids enrolled in Catholic schools and parish religious education programs to meet him at Dutchess Stadium in Wappingers Falls for a minor league ballgame between the Hudson Valley Renegades and the Lowell Spinners Monday, June 17, at 7:05 p.m.

The ninth annual contest is billed as Catholic Education Night. Students can join a pre-game parade on the field's warning track with their school or parish banner. The lineup for the walk will begin when gates open at 6 p.m.

In honor of the cardinal's visit, the Renegades will distribute free baseballs with a St. Patrick's Cathedral logo to the first 2,500 fans to arrive.

The winners of the singing contests associated with the game are St. Denis-St. Columba School, Hopewell Junction, whose students will perform the national anthem; Cassidy Maglio of Most Precious Blood School, Walden, who will sing "God Bless America"; and the students of Most Precious Blood, who will perform "Take Me Out to the Ballgame."

Tickets: $12 each. Part of the proceeds will go to Catholic schools and religious education programs in the Hudson Valley.
